Rail

Rail IndustryWithin the Rail Industry our experience and expertise is unrivalled as we provide investigative chemical analysis in support of our customer’s environmental, health, safety and development projects.

Scientifics has had a long association with the rail industry dating back to 1864 when the World’s first railway laboratory was established. Later, focused on providing technical and scientific support to the regional locomotive works at Glasgow, Doncaster, Derby, Eastleigh, Crewe and Swindon, Scientifics was part of the British Rail Research Organisation until it was privatised in 1996.

Historic applications for “Railway Chemists” were the testing of coal, lubricants, metallurgy, paints, fuels, advice on use of chemicals, and many other types of investigation. One could argue that this is still the case.

The key aim of the business is to work in partnership with clients in order to provide them with a total compliance management solution in this world of increasingly onerous health, safety and environmental legislation.
