Ozone: Environmentally Friendly Water Treatment

Ozone is an allotropic form of oxygen; each molecule contains three atoms of oxygen instead of the standard two. Ozone is a powerful disinfectant and has been used commercially for the treatment of potable water since 1904.

ESG Provides a Range of Water Treatment Services Using Ozone as a Disinfectant:

  • Filtex Ozone Units for cooling towers
  • OCS Units for use on bottled water plants
  • OFG Units for use in pharmaceutical & CIP

Environmental Benefits from Use of Ozone

As the ozone gas is produced ‘in situ’ and without the use of chemicals, there are immediate environmental benefits:

  • The only ‘breakdown’ product is oxygen – no pollutants
  • Any waste water is safe to enter waterways and surface drains – no need for a foul sewer
  • Waste water can be used in other grey water applications – saving water top up from other sources
  • No chemical manufacture; most chemicals are produced abroad and imported to the UK
  • No transport costs
  • No chemicals also means no chemical drums
  • No landfill or shredding issues
