| Pembroke CCGT Power Station | RWE npower needed to build a new 2000 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station at Pembroke, Wales on a site previously occupied by a former oil-fired power station. The new CCGT plant would be constructed on the former power station site and the main buildings would be located on the low lying ground to the south west of the former oil-fired power station. | Berkeley Power Station | Berkeley Power station was proceeding through a measured and calculated programme of work to decommission the site efficiently and with due care for the environment. | Uskmouth Power Station | Severn Power Ltd needed to build a new 800 MW power station at Uskmouth, Near Newport, South Wales on a demolition site previously occupied by the old coal fired ‘Station A’ power station built in the 1950s. | Waverley Railway Regeneration | Soil Mechanics was appointed by Scottish Borders Council to meet a wide variety of drilling and testing techniques, logistical challenges, land access organisation and logging requirements along a 35 mile stretch of track earmarked for reinstatement by 2011. | M25 | With an immediate need to finish the pavement investigation along its entire 117 mile stretch against unyielding time pressures the Highways Agency needed a geotechnical contractor who could complete the field work in under 8 weeks so that year end financial targets for a possible widening scheme could be met. | Medway Viaduct Refurbishment | The Highways Agency needed a solution to ensure the future life of the Medway viaduct and solve their need for a high capacity crossing. Given the concerns over potential chloride attack from road salt penetration into the deck of the old viaduct a detailed survey covering the entire 1km was required to evaluate the extent of the damage. | Estuary bathymetric survey | As part of an environmental study of the River Dee estuary between the North Wales and Wirral coastlines SM Pelorus have completed a second bathymetric survey. View more |
| Churngold Recyling | TCRA has well developed testing requirements in accordance with the WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocols. To help them meet the requirements Soil Mechanics Materials Testing Division worked to an agreed program of chemical and product conformance testing. View more |
| Burbo Offshore Windfarm | The survey brief includes monitoring scour around the turbine monopile bases together with cable burial surveys and current monitoring in the vicinity of a single monopile.
