Static Load Testing
ESG through its brand PMC, pioneered data-logging techniques for Static Pile Load Testing in the late 1980's, since when we have constantly developed the systems in-house.
Accuracy and reliability are assured with back-up systems to minimise the risk of data loss.
With over 100MN capacity in its own hydraulic jacking equipment, we can tackle virtually any size of load test.
Our largest jacks have a capacity of 15MN and stroke of 300mm. All our large capacity jacks incorporate the load cells within the rams to keep the load system compact and stable to increase safety.
A variety of systems are used including:
Hydraulic pumping systems are controlled by the data-logger which automatically applies and maintains each load increment within fine limits. Higher levels of automation are available for special situations.
PMC's electronic load cells were developed in conjunction with the manufacturers and prototypes were thoroughly tested at the National Physical Laboratory to ensure that accuracy is maintained under the harshest of site conditions. Capacities of individual cells range up to 15MN and all incorporate a spherical-seat platen.
We have unrivalled experience in carrying out load tests in all modes (compression, tension and lateral) on vertical and raked piles on land and over water.
We also offer a full instrumentation service and regularly carry out load tests on piles incorporating cast in situ gauges of all types.
Data from all instruments is logged simultaneously and presented as an integral report.
