Seam Section and Coal Stock Evaluation

ESG Materials Testing Division provide a number of evaluation services for Seam Section and Coal Stock Evaluation, our services include:

• Coal stock evaluation by borehole analysis
• Volumetric coal stock evaluation
• Underground and open seam section sampling, description and interpretation
• Washability trials and evaluation.

​Coal Stock and Volumetric Evaluation 

Coal stock evaluation through analysis of coal taken from boreholes extracted by ESG is offered along with volumetric analysis through an experienced appointed surveyor using appropriate data surveying techniques.

Underground and Surface Seam Sampling

Sampling of both underground and surface seam sections provide a full description, analysis and interpretation of individual lithologies throughout the seam with a composite analysis provided for the evaluation of overall coal quality.

Washability Trials

ESG are UKAS accredited for the sampling, preparation and analysis of raw coal feed and products from coal preparation plants at different densities and size fractions. The results of these washability trials are presented in tabular and graphical form to enable plant performance to be accurately assessed.
