Expertise
Lee Earley
Lee joined Scientifics in 2008. Having worked previously at EIM (Northern) Limited, CBISS and AGL Airtesting Limited. During his previous employment maintaining the EIM and AGL hire fleet Lee became expert on all aspects of repair, maintenance, servicing and calibration on Signal FID, Testo electrochemical cell analysers, Horiba PG 250 multi-component analysers and Me Thermo FID. Following his previous factory training Lee at ESG has undergone additional bespoke training and continued his development, having now become proficient servicing ESG Gasmet FTIR and Sick FID analysers. More importantly for Lee has been the challenge of not only supporting ESG’s analyser fleet but utilising his expert electronics background in developing additional bespoke emissions monitoring solutions and driving technical advances – “ESG has provided me with such a varied role and supported all my training needs. The development of new in house technology is what makes ESG different from the more routine application of my skills in a contract hire business”. ESG now has some of the most advanced support systems and control solutions including remote operation of analysers using 3G connection and interface modules.

David Waites
David joined ESG in December 2008. Having worked for over 30 years as an instrumentation engineer in manufacturing operations David joined EIM Northern in 1996 and was their principal service engineer looking after the servicing and maintenance of the contract hire fleet. David was at EIM when they ventured into hire and support of Horiba PG-250 and Meβ Thermo FID to supplement their expert Testo and Signal analyser fleet and has a wealth of experience on these analysers. At AGL Airtesting David developed further skills servicing manual sample trains to supplement his experience on instrumental analysers. At ESG he performs a varied role supporting all our in house servicing, repair and calibration services and regularly gets round our offices to provide calibration and maintenance support. David has utilised his skills in developing additional resource and capability in ESG’s entire emissions monitoring equipment resource and has provided us with significant cost saving due to in house manufacturing projects. Looking to diversify into providing this support to external customers – “I look forward to building on the good customer relationships I’ve had with operators and test houses and offering our services to some of these customers again”

Testimonials

ESG through its Soil Mechanics brand were set a tough challenge by RWE npower and met it full on. From the engineer's perspective, it was evident from the start that many parts of the business would need to pull together to achieve the client's demanding programme. Pembroke in November was never going to be easy, but staff on site, in Bridgend and in the labs demonstrated a team commitment to match and on occasions exceed the client's expectations.
