Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG) Ltd acquires the Geotechnical and Testing Services Division from Bureau Veritas UK Holdings Ltd

Acquisition consolidates ESG’s position as the UK market leader in Environmental Compliance

Following its official launch last week, the Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG), the UK’s leading Environmental Compliance company and a member of the Inspicio Group, is pleased to announce its intention to acquire the Geotechnical and Testing Services Division (GTS) of Bureau Veritas UK Holdings Ltd. The acquisition will strengthen each of ESG’s divisions – Geotechncial and Energy, Laboratories and Analytical and Environmental Safety Compliance by expanding its national coverage and UKAS accredited laboratory network. It also underpins ESG’s intention to be a true ‘one stop shop’ for environmental inspection, testing and consultancy services.

The Geotechnical and Testing Services Division of Bureau Veritas is one of the UK’s largest integrated providers of testing services spanning a range of sectors. With nine locations across England and Scotland, GTS offer a range of expertise, including geotechnical engineering; structural investigation; materials testing; soil testing; specialist metallurgy engineering and analytical chemistry.
 

GTS has more than 2000 customers with an impressive and loyal blue chip customer base. All GTS’s laboratories are UKAS accredited and the Consultancy Services business is accredited with BS 9000:2000 and 14001:2004. GTS is an established provider of services to the rail industry and is Link Up accredited with Network Rail. Recent projects include the Weymouth Bypass scheme and the Geotech support work for Network Rail signalling project.

The acquisition of GTS will add 254 staff and approximately £17m revenues to the Group and ESG have signed a preferred Supplier Agreement with Bureau Veritas which will maintain links going forward. The deal is expected to complete in December 2009.
