VCON2 Standard Contamination Package 2 - Soils

This package represents a useful suite of parameters for site investigations, particularly where little or no information is available on previous site activities, where the work is of an exploratory nature, the site history is unclear or it is known to have a history of industrial use, or the site has been found to contain quantities of made ground from an unknown source.

The parameters within this analytical package are based on the Contaminated Land Exposure Assessment Model (CLEA), and associated guidance. It excludes the metals for which no SGV has yet been issued.

The data obtained from this package may be supplemented with further information and used in conjunction with the CLEA model to undertake qualitative and quantitative Risk Assessments and to determine Remediation options, such as Treatment and/or Reuse on site or Disposal off site as waste.

This package also includes Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons and can be supplemented with other organic and inorganic parameters as required.

Full interpretative comments can be provided on analysis results, outlining potential limitations to intended end use and/or alternative end uses for the material, waste disposal classifications and potential hazards to known receptors (e.g. the environment, human health, plants and building materials).

ESG through its Soil Mechanics brand were set a tough challenge by RWE npower and met it full on. From the engineer's perspective, it was evident from the start that many parts of the business would need to pull together to achieve the client's demanding programme. Pembroke in November was never going to be easy, but staff on site, in Bridgend and in the labs demonstrated a team commitment to match and on occasions exceed the client's expectations.
